30 Breath-Taking Viva Magenta-Inspired Concepts

Last month, Pantone announced the Color of the Year 2023 to welcome designers into the Magentaverse. Enter Viva Magenta 18-1750 with a powerful vividness of an exuberant and sensual red that we’re going to see a lot of this year. With this in mind, Viva Magenta already inspires graphic designers from all over the world to craft beautiful websites, UI elements, posters, and 3D animations. In this blog post, let’s buckle up for some amazing Viva Magenta graphic design examples that will lead us into 2023.

Pantone Color of the Year 2023

Pantone’s Color of the year has had an undeniable influence over the design industries for the last two decades. Each year, Pantone pronounces the Color of the Year for graphic design, fashion, product design, and packaging, thanks to expert trend analysis and knowledge of socio-economic influences and technology. When it comes to psychology, each year’s color reflects the overall mood and vibes of the current times.

Last year’s color,  Very Peri, came from a beloved blue color family to symbolize the global zeitgeist and the shift towards the digital, modern, and futuristic. So what is Viva Magenta and how exactly it expands our horizons?

Pantone 18-1750 Viva Magenta comes from the red family and gets its power from the cochineal dye; known as one of the strongest and brightest natural dyes in the world.

According to Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute, Viva Magenta’s connection to nature seeks to galvanize the spirit and help us build inner strength.

If we compare the message to the previous year, it’s no surprise that choosing a color rooted in nature, is needed to balance the drastic shift into the digital and artificial.

Viva Magenta is a vibrant, optimistic color symbolizing positive change after months of gloom on economic and geopolitical fronts.

The Color of the Year 2023 aims to establish a new dynamic between power and youthful exuberance. Just like the crimson, purple, and pink shades that create it.

It is a color that is audacious, full of wit, and inclusive of all.

As usual, Pantontone already released a Formula Guide for design inspiration, color specification, and printing accuracy so designers can integrate Viva Magenta into the digital workflows of their preferred design tools.

Viva Magenta Color Palettes

Viva Magenta is a versatile color that you can turn into a romantic shade by combining it with soft pink or make it even bolder and more audacious by pairing it with neons. Everything goes! In the meantime, while we all have the chance to experiment with different color combinations, Pantone suggested the Magentaverse color palette. Here Viva Magenta truly stands out from other natural but muted colors.

Pale Dogwood, Gray Sand, Fields of Rye, and Plein Air surely complement Viva Magenta and make it shine, however, if muted colors aren’t your thing, you can always create custom palettes to match your designs better.

This brings us to the main topic.

In this field, the Viva Magenta examples usually create depth and intensity by combining the color with deeper and darker shades of blue, purple, or pure black.
