👉 How to Find Out Which Squarespace Template a Site is Using?

If you find yourself admiring a Squarespace website and wondering what template they used, there’s an easy way to do this.

✔️ Finding whether or not the website uses Squarespace

View the source code for the page. In Firefox or Chrome, right-click on the page and click  “View Page Source”. Use CTRL+F and type in “templateID”. This will search the source code for the line templateID that is a part of the Squarespace code base. This line serves to identify which template the site is using.

If such code does not exist, the site isn’t using Squarespace.

✔️ Detecting the Squarespace theme by ID

To find out which template a Squarespace site uses, copy the “templateID” number  (ex. 52e96934e4b0ea14d0f64568 ) and paste it into this table.

✔️ Detecting a Squarespace theme by URL

You can use online theme detectors such as What Square Space or FINDR to find out the particular Squarespace theme a website is using. Simply paste the URL of the website you’re interested in and the detector will give you the name and link of the theme. Keep in mind that some websites are custom-designed, so the tools won’t be able to detect them.

  • Squarespace templates score low ratings by Google’s Page Speed Tool.
  • The platform doesn’t provide backup solutions. You can only export product and blog data.

👉 When You Should Use Squarespace?

Squarespace is a trusted brand that focuses on the modern and beautiful look of websites. The platform is perfect for artists, designers, or photographers who require their online business site to match their work. Additionally, it’s also a great choice for beginners as it’s a hosted AIO solution that requires zero coding skills and offers a fairly intuitive back-end.

However, Squarespace isn’t suited for larger and growing businesses that require constant and specific functionalities, more complex navigation, and powerful SEO. For such kind of website, you might wish to consider more powerful tools with more control such as Shopify, WordPress, or Craft CMS.

Conclusion

Squarespace is ideal for artists, designers, and photographers who want to showcase and sell their artwork and want their website to match their artistic preferences. The platform offers a limited, but high-quality collection of customizable templates with a clean and modern look. Most templates heavily rely on photography which makes them easier to customize.
